The #MormonMurders and My Upcoming Novel

The #MormonMurders and my Upcoming Novel

Recent horrifying images from Mexico reveal the unfathomable violence of the Mexican Cartels. Nine peace-loving Christian women and their children were sacrificed on the altar of inhumanity in the Mexican state of Sonora, just south of the Arizona border.

Questions remain as to why these lives were so violently destroyed. However, indications lean toward specific targeting for the simple reason of one cartel establishing its power and influence over an opposing cartel.

La Linea, the armed branch of the Juarez Cartel and in conflict with the Sinaloa Cartel, is the prime suspect in the slaughter of these innocents.

My research and past experience in law enforcement in Arizona brought La Linea to life for me long before the brutal murders of these nine innocent people. Last year I spent some time along the border researching my soon-to-be-released “We Were Young Once . . . ,”

Further research into the Juarez morgue reveals an even more devastating story of the Mexican drug wars. A modern facility built to provide mortuary services for eighty people, today the morgue holds roughly 200 mutilated bodies of men, women, and children every day—the cartels hold no respect for age or sex.

Everyone is fair game, and the more terrifying the murders, the greater value it holds in the cartel’s demented mind. A typical day will see at least ten cartel victims, many dismembered, being brought to the morgue. Women especially are high-value targets, suffering violent rapes before their mangled bodies are recovered.

“We Were Young Once . . .” introduces the reader into a fast-paced story based on real-life on both sides of the U.S./Mexico border. You will follow New Mexico State Trooper Enrique Basurto into the cesspool of life as he combats the drug and human trafficking in this unending war of tragic circumstances.

This breathtaking novel will be on the market in early 2020. In the meantime, take a quick visit to the geographical heart of this story, Hachita, New Mexico on YouTube.
