Summertime
and the Living is Easy
Summer is officially here—June 21,
2023, and continues until September 22nd. Now is the time to
kick-back, chill out, and enjoy the what and where of your desires—breathtaking
mountain trails, the warm surf of Florida, the robust breakers of California, or
a peaceful and quiet day sitting beside a pond in the Ozarks.
For us, the summer joys are
twofold. First and foremost is the what and where of our grandchildren. Emily,
the oldest, graduated from high school in Arlington, Texas, and is Oklahoma
bound where she is a Presidential Scholar and Honors Student.
Her “little” brother, Conner, a
pitcher, 3rd baseman, and an outfielder, will sharpen his baseball
talents with a traveling team. And travel is what they do. He and his parents
will see lots of ballparks in Texas and Oklahoma.
Katherine, the eldest grandchild
of the Carrollton branch of the Nichols clan, will continue her musical
experience with another Hebron Horn band camp, a long and difficult road to
remain a member of one of the top bands in Texas, and in the entire USA.
Last but certainly not least is
the future Eagle Scout and Katherine’s little brother, William. His summer is
well underway with one Colorado camp already under his belt.
Before this summer is over, these
two Nichols grandkids will tour the Southeast USA with their parents, sightseeing
and learning a little bit about what high humidity means.
For us, the grandparents, what
could be a better summer than enjoying the grandkids fun and learning. Life
could not be better.
